The launch of the report took place at the House of Commons with Dr Huw Williams and Mr Stephen Edwards being invited to attend along with Mr Dave Gratton from Egglescliffe School and Sixth Form College.

The report showcases our partnership Careers provision, including the work experience programme developed by Yarm alongside the Treasury and other Government departments at the Darlington Economic Campus, and attended by students from Yarm and Egglescliffe, working alongside each other in this innovative programme. It also details our biennial Careers Convention which is open to pupils from all schools, and our mock MMI interview sessions supporting aspiring medics from across the region.

Yarm’s partnership work is wide ranging and includes many other events and collaborations, with some representative examples including:

Dr Tim Craig delivers a series of highly acclaimed and popular interactive physics road-shows in local primary schools; he worked with 18 schools (and over 1000 children) across the Tees Valley in 22-23.
We host Phab Club, a youth club for young people aged 11-18 with disabilities, which offers a range of activities such as arts and crafts, board games and music since 2021. This is run by staff and pupils who also raise money to fund activities and organise visitors.
At Prep we run Primary School workshops ranging from student-led VR experience sessions and clay modelling to Microbits workshops and chess events. Our dedicated subject specialists work with local primary schools to deliver workshops and inspire future students. A total of 15 schools from the Teesside and North Yorkshire areas were involved in myriad projects and workshops, resulting in over 2600 children taking part in the various events that took place.
Memento Dementia-Friendly Singalongs have now been running for a year at Yarm. We welcome anyone living with dementia and their carers to regular evenings of music, singing, refreshments and companionship, with our pupils involved in hosting and entertaining our guests.

Dr Huw Williams, Headmaster at Yarm, commented: “We are extremely proud that our partnership and community engagement work was recognised on a national level by being a featured school in the ISC’s Celebrating Partnerships report.

“Staff, Governors, Parents and Former pupils are all a valuable part of our partnerships work with many volunteering to help out with the biennial Careers Convention which is open to all local schools, and additional Career Cluster events.

“Active engagement with and contribution to our local and regional communities is central to our ethos, providing opportunities for our pupils to benefit from partnerships and projects. We hope to foster our partnership relations and develop new connections through sharing resources, facilities and experiences.”
